Dr. Laura Janzen is registered by the College of Psychologists of Ontario, with declared competency in Clinical Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology, with children, adolescents and adults. She is board-certified in Clinical Neuropsychology, with a subspecialty in Pediatric Neuropsychology (American Board of Professional Psychology).
Dr. Janzen attained a PhD in Clinical Psychology (Clinical Neuropsychology
specialization) at the University of Victoria, including a one-year clinical internship at the London Health Sciences Centre. She went on to complete post-doctoral training in Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, NY. She has been employed at the London Health Sciences Centre and Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital and is currently a staff neuropsychologist at the Hospital for Sick Children. Dr. Janzen is also an Assistant Professor (Status-Only) in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Toronto. She is actively involved in clinical research, training and professional activities; she has published numerous journal articles and book chapters, supervised and mentored trainees for nearly 20 years, and served on boards of professional organizations and journals.
In her private practice, Dr. Janzen provides neuropsychological assessment and consultation services, as well as psycho-educational assessments, and specialised assessments to identify learning disabilities, giftedness, intellectual disability (ID), and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). She has expertise with a broad range of medical and developmental conditions, including traumatic brain injury, seizure disorders, childhood cancer, genetic conditions, and prematurity.
Dr. Janzen helps families of children/adolescents with medical, neurological and/or developmental conditions by assessing cognitive, academic and emotional-behavioral functioning, identifying strengths and weaknesses, developing recommendations for effective intervention, and consulting on special education services. She often works with individuals who have complex presentations or multiple challenges, requiring a comprehensive approach to assessment and management. Dr. Janzen is a caring, supportive and knowledgeable clinician who aims to provide understandable information
and practical solutions.
